when it comes to movies, i'm a sap. to speak plainly, sleepless in seattle is one of my favorites (gag if you will, but you can't deny the charm of a young tom hanks and meg ryan). after realizing the fact that romance movies are my special cup of tea, i typically tend to stick with this genre when i get a little time to sit alone and indulge in this intesne girlishness, and having recently sat down to watch "a very long engagement." sitting in my bed, laptop glowing on my face, i can proudly say that i very much liked this movie. not love, but very much liked. it was sad to the point of heartbreaking, and completely relatable, and not in that "i've been through this same scenario" type of way, but in a way that everyone felt human and real and i could sense the remorse. the story was winding and took you up and down, and yes. i definitely cried. i may be giving a vague movie review, but! if you like romantical french things, then i definitely support and recommend this. oui oui.
